{"id":1250,"date":"2020-11-08T18:22:17","date_gmt":"2020-11-08T17:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.liebetanz.com\/hsl\/?p=1250"},"modified":"2020-11-08T18:22:17","modified_gmt":"2020-11-08T17:22:17","slug":"homage-to-my-motobecane-frame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.liebetanz.com\/blog\/?p=1250","title":{"rendered":"Homage to my Motob\u00e9cane frame"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As I have never introduced my old vintage bike frame, I want to do it now: Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you my bike frame from the late 70s, by the french brand <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Motob%C3%A9cane#Bicycles\" target=\"_blank\">Motob\u00e9cane<\/a>, made of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Reynolds_531\">Reynolds tubes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been remodeled in the middle of the 80s by a frame maker, <a href=\"https:\/\/translate.googleusercontent.com\/translate_c?depth=1&amp;nv=1&amp;pto=aue&amp;rurl=translate.google.com&amp;sl=auto&amp;sp=nmt4&amp;tl=en&amp;u=https:\/\/forum.tour-magazin.de\/showthread.php%3F216350-Heinz-Paupitz-Berlin&amp;usg=ALkJrhhQlO89D9TK0DaEWLFcxJPZxMbYjw\">Heinz Paupitz<\/a>, in the Berlin borough of Wedding, where it got a paint job. At the time it was really cool with a Shimano 600 brake set and tubular tires. And it still is cool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I still love it, even though my Father-in-law has vandalized it, when I left it with him, by changing the original handle bar and exchanged it against a different high whatever thing, which was totally out of whack, it looked a bit like this one:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.liebetanz.com\/hsl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/img_4617-edited-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1252\" width=\"300\" height=\"306\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently I  have a not very satisfying replacement bar, but I think I&#8217;m going to search for an old wide handle bar with the engraving &#8220;la Technique d&#8217;Avion appliqu\u00e9e au Deux Roues&#8221; (Aviation Technology applied to two wheels) on it, as the original one had.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because the bike has tubular tires they are narrow and glide like a dream. One kick in the pedals and you just float through the landscape and everything is very easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gearshift though, because it&#8217;s quite aged, has to be handled with care. So it is a little funky to ride on it, but if it&#8217;s not competitive and you are enjoying the landscape \u2013 it&#8217;s just very nice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t know why, but I very much like the chrome front fork of it too. Nothing crazy, but a nice extra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, I almost forgot, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooksengland.com\/en_eu\/saddles\/leather-saddles.html\">Brooks<\/a> saddle: also roughly thirty years old, heavy, but sits very comfortably!
