For quite a while I was intrigued, why social sciences have not been so\nsuccessfully developing, as all the technical branches did in the last decades.\nIf you compare for instance the progress made in computing, information\ntechnology and electronic gaming from the 70s up till now and compare that with\nthe advances in social psychology and political sciences, the difference is\nmind staggering.
\n
\nI never wanted to settle with the impression that obviously psychologists and other\nsocial scientists were not capable to come up with new methods of analysis and\nconcepts how to influence individual and social development in a desirable way\nto support democratic and pluralistic societies of nowadays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then I discovered new scientific work which looked kind of promising. One of the first articles which caught my attention was in the New York Times about Yascha Mounk<\/a> describing the hi-jacking of the work of psychologist Michal Kosinski from London, whose method has been used by a company which claimed to have influenced the 2016 election for the President of the United States, helping Donald Trump to win the race. You can find the very enlightening interview with Kosinski on youtube<\/a> about the risks but also the big advantages and chances of Big Data.
